Lowestoft is the most easterly town in the whole of the United Kingdom and as such is regarded as being the first place in the country to see the sunrise. This is the place to be if you way to take advantage of an empty beach in the early morning as the sun rises to greet the day with a smile. There are two beautiful blue flag beaches for you to enjoy here which are popular with people who want to swim in the clean water, skim the waves on a wind surfer or simply relax on the beach and soak up the summer sun. Lowestoft is a very popular seaside resort town and as such it has all of the attractions and facilities that you would expect, as well as some that you will not find anywhere else in the country such as ‘Africa Alive’ which is proving to be one of the most popular family friendly attractions that the town has to offer.

Things to See and Do

One of the reasons that Lowestoft is so popular with visitors is because it is something of a centre for family entertainment, plus the beautiful Broads are practically on your doorstep. Just to the north of the town you will find Oulton Broad, the perfect place to take to the water on a boat, or while away an afternoon with a rod and line by the water’s edge. Head a little farther north and you will find the countryside estate of Somerleyton Hall and gardens, explore the wide expanse of landscaped gardens or have an adventure exploring the 19th century maze. If you are looking for the traditional seaside experience then you need go no further than Lowestoft’s own seafront. Spend some time appreciating the Victorian seafront gardens, admiring the fountains or taking a walk along one or both of the town’s piers. Many of the town’s museums and galleries offer an insight into the town’s relationship with the sea, and there are a number of heritage walks designed to allow you to enjoy the beautiful coastline while you also learn something of the town’s maritime heritage.

Places to Visit

No trip to a seaside resort town would be complete without a visit to a traditional fish and chip shop, and you will find that there are some excellent fish and chip as well as seafood restaurants to choose from in the town. The Pleasurewood Hill Family Theme Park offers fun for all of the family and promises to keep everyone entertained for the whole day. While Africa Alive offers you the chance to enjoy a walking safari, meeting all of the animals that you would expect to finds on the African Savannah in the depths of Lowestoft! This is one of the most popular attractions in the area and not only can you see the animals really close up you can also learn about them at any of the daily keeper talks and animal displays that take place every day. Your own little moneys will also enjoy letting off steam in the park’s own adventure playground.
